Fleet Compliance
Compliance in logistics industry is paramount; it ensures the supply chain runs smoothly, guiding goods from location to location without difficulty.
Simmonds Transport understands that running a compliant business is essential for any transport operation – it is the law to make sure that vehicles are safe and roadworthy to ensure that they can do the job that is expected of them. Having well maintained vehicles prevents unscheduled downtime which can be both costly and disruptive to service. Safety on the road is of paramount importance, drivers use the latest technology to carry out comprehensive Daily Walk around.
Checks and efficient Defect Reporting of vehicles and trailers
In 2011 a unique system was introduced whereby vehicles and trailers are randomly tagged with reflective discs, this is to show driver compliance and recognised by the DVSA.
A bespoke Driver Induction Training Program was developed and is presented to all new drivers.
Regular updates given to ensure all drivers are fully educated in all aspects of government legislation and law which helps reduce any tachograph and driver’s hour’s infringements.
DVSA Earned Recognition Scheme
In 2015 Simmonds Transport were approached by the DVSA who requested our assistance and guidance in developing the objectives for the Earned Recognition Scheme.
In April 2018 Simmonds Transport were accredited with Earned Recognition “Founder Member” status.
Simmonds Transport work closely with the DVSA, the Highways Agency, Road Haulage Association and logistics UK of which we are members.
All haulage operators have their compliance monitored by the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and the Traffic Commissioner using an Operators Risk Score (OCRS) which is rated using a traffic light system.
Simmonds Transport are proud to have a continued status of Green for both road worthiness and traffic scoring with no graduated fixed penalties or prohibitions ever being issued for driver’s hour’s offences.
Standards of compliance are also audited annually by Transport for London’s FORS (Fleet Operators Recognition Scheme). Simmonds Transport is proud to have achieved FORS Gold status since 2019 and uses FORS Accredited Trainers for the Annual DCPC training.
